I was not in the best frame of mind when I started this one - quite depressed, actually - and I wanted to make a painting that kind of described how I felt. The image was originally a lot more "shadowy" - a face inspired by the 1924 Watertown ghosts photo, which I first saw in a book at the library when I was a child. As I kept painting, I thought that it would actually look a lot better if I painted a more definitively pain-stricken face on top of it. Thoughts?
